Slate 60 Announced

Online magazine Slate has published its “Slate 60” for 2010. Compiled by the Chronicle of Philanthropy, it lists the 60 biggest donors of the year.

While the Gates’s and Buffett’s Giving Pledge push has led to adding new names (like Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg), they note many similarities to past Slate 60s:

Most donors come from the worlds of technology, industry, real estate, and, especially, finance, with relatively few coming from entertainment and sports…big givers overwhelmingly chose causes close to their homes or their hearts, often local organizations or their alma maters. And donations to health- and education-related organizations dominated overall giving again.
