America’s 200 Largest Charities

January 11, 2011 at 7:41 PM

Forbes lists the United States’s 200 largest charities as ranked by private donations. (The list was first published last November, but has come to our attention only now.)

As they note in their introduction to the list, certain kinds of nonprofits like academic institutions, churches, and donor-advised funds are excluded. Each charity is also scored by a number of different economic efficiency measures.

Number one on the list (in private support): the United Way, with more than double the private contributions as the second place  Salvation Army.
