Another Hollywood Sequel: Second Social Networking Charity Site

December 15, 2010 at 7:13 PM

CNN reports that Hollywood actor Edward Norton has recently helped create a new site that – much like the recently announced Jumo – aims to be “the Facebook of philanthropy.” The site, www.crowdrise.com, allows users to create sites seeking funds for their particular cause, and will include a “gaming element” to make giving fun. Other crowd-pleasing elements:

The actor has enlisted the help of his famous friends, who are creating profiles on Crowdrise. Will Ferrell, for example, is raising money for cancer survivors.

‘You can win a bottle of Will’s suntan lotion for a donation to his site,’ Norton said.

Finally, a reason to help cancer survivors!
