Advice for the Giving Pledgers

The San Jose Mercury News offers advice to Mark Zuckerberg and other Giving Pledge billionaires. Essentially, to be effective philanthropists, the article advises staying focused, learning from what’s worked in the past, seeking feedback from outside their super-wealth bubble, and not to “fall for ‘business thinking’ as a magic bullet.”

Phil Buchanan, president of the nonprofit Center for Effective Philanthropy, and Stephen Heintz, head of the center’s board and president of the Rockefeller Brothers Fund, wrote the article.
